Truth Or Consequences

One of my favorite regions to work in is the southwest and I've had the opportunity to work New Mexico three times.  First in Silver City, New Mexico a few years ago and two years ago in Alamogordo.  There's just something about the dry desert conditions that does it for me.

My third time in New Mexico was a 6 week assignment in Truth Or Consequences. (click the link for details)  As the locals call it, T or C is located on the Rio Grande river and sits beside the Elephant Butte reservoir.l  There isn't a lot going on in T or C so weekends usually amounted a ride through the desert, down to Las Cruces or visiting places like the cliff dwellings in Gila National Park.

Aside from endless roads and nothingness, there was always an assortment of roadside curiosities.  I have no clue to what this bike was about other than a tribute to a local man who had passed on.

You begin to strain for amusements in a place like this so anything like Sparky's in Hatch, NM is a worthy stop.

Gila National Park cliff dwellings, located north of Silver City.  A good place for high altitude cardio hiking.

Endless high desert roads all begin to look alike so the best part of being in a place like this is some of the relationships you forge, such as Vicki, Sid and Charlsie.

Thanks, T or C, it was great.

Meet Boudreaux II

The old 2005 Harley Softail was Boudreaux and I thought about just keeping the same name like B B King named every guitar Lucille but a motorcycle eventually develops it's own personality.  Eventually, it may get a new name, but for right now, it's still Boudreaux.  It's basically the same as Old Boudreaux but with a 103 cubic inch engine instead of the 88 ci and a six speed transmission instead of the five.

Old Boudreaux was getting to be a high mileage bike and made me nervous about any long distant run over a few hundred miles.

A 2012 model with only 2,844 actual miles on it, it's  not even broken in yet.  I'm not too sure about the white sidewalls either.  Oh well, we shall see.

Moving

For whatever reasons, good, bad or just for the desire to change neighborhood, we are on the move again.

It's pretty much a lateral move, being in the same area of Ascension Parish.  Even though it's probably a higher quality home and just a few square feet larger, I still consider it a lateral move.

We put a lot of work in the one we're moving from and it may be a while before the new digs measure up in appearance to the old one.

Nevertheless, I can't help but have the feeling of being detached.  We have not completely closed on the home we are selling and do not have an exact date for the closing for the new one.  The person who we plan on buying from (as soon as we can close on the deal) has generously offered to let us store our belongings in the carport of the new home, so we have mountains of boxes stacked on furniture at the new address waiting on the call from the title company to tell us when we can close.  Since I am working away all the time, the burden of packing up has been on the shoulders of my wife.

So, with a slight feeling of detachment, we are temporarily housed at our daughter and son-in-law in Baton Rouge and hope we can get everything settled very soon.
